BAM! Super Miss Barb, to the craft-rescue!
We all have things about us that make us unique, just like the superheroes in our favorite movies and comic books. Those things might not be "super" powers, but they are powers just the same. My love for crafting is a power! Your ability to read is another power! One of the most super powers of all is loving and accepting ourselves and others. I think we all can have that power!
Whatever your super power, it helps to have some reminders to use it. Superheroes wear costumes to remind people they are there to help. Maybe those costumes also help remind the heroes themselves to use their powers for good. That is why I am choosing to use my crafting powers to help you all make... Superhero Cuffs!

INSTRUCTIONS
First step is to cut a piece of the construction paper to fit the toilet paper tube.
I used the measuring tape to find the length of the tube as well as the circumference (how big the circle of the tube is). I got 4 inches long and 5 1/2 inches around. I marked the paper accordingly and cut out my wrapper.
Use the markers and just draw shapes, lines, circles or even squiggles! Just freestyle how you want to decorate the cuffs!
Before you use any glue, wrap the paper around the tube to make sure it fits. You can trim anywhere if necessary. Place the paper flat and cover the entire back side of the paper with the glue stick. Use plenty of glue so it will hold tight everywhere on the tube.
Glue the paper on the tube. Take the paper and gently lay a bit of the paper across the tube minding that the paper is even on both sides. Slowly continue paper around the tube, pushing with your thumbs to help it stick while also keeping the paper even on the edges all the way around. Press well.
Use the scissors to cut the tube in half. The whole tube is too long for a toddler/child under seven to wear. By cutting it in half, the cuffs will not only fit better, you'll have double the cuffs! An older child may want to keep the tube whole and make one for each wrist.
Finally, cut the tube lengthwise to open it at the paper seam.
Optional: I chose to add an emblem to the cuffs. RT, of course, stands for Reading Time. I cut a circle out from cardstock and we asked Mx. Kai to draw the initials on the book. I glued the emblem to the circle, which I then glued on to the cuff. You could also use a marker to draw initials, stars ⭐️, a lighting bolt ⚡️, or use stickers! Just make sure it reflects you and your super power!
We hope you will join us for making this craft in person this January 11th! But also, it is snow season here in Southeast Idaho, so make sure you are taking care on the roads and watch out for potential weather updates from us.
