Hello, friends! It's another wonderful month, and with spring on the horizon, it's time to start thinking about doing a little Spring Clean-Up! Thankfully, Miss Barb has prepared an amazing craft for us to do that will help us with our cleaning time!
If you are in Idaho Falls, you can pick up kits at:
-The Book Shelf, Idaho Falls @ 575 3rd Street
-Winnie & Mo’s Bookshop, Idaho Falls @ 343 A St
You will need:
🪶Craft feathers (we used 10 but more = FLUFFY)
🪶Wood dowel (3/4 in, approx 8 in long) We cut to size. Painting dowel is optional.
🪶Sturdy tape (used T-Rex brand found at local super-store in the office supplies. It is similar to duct tape but narrower in width. Possibly masking tape could work or cutting regular duct tape to narrower strip.)
🪶Color/decorative tape (for a smooth finish & to cover the attaching tape)
🪶Scissors to cut tape
First, set ten feathers ad your wood dowel out on the table.
With approximately 6 inches of sturdy tape, sticky side up, place feathers next to each other in a row.
Now all the feathers are placed.
Notice a fair amount of the bottom end of the feather is stuck onto the tape.
Add wood dowel to the feathered tape. Notice a bit of the dowel pokes above width of tape. This is for a sturdier connection.
Carefully begin to roll feathers around wood dowel. Not too tight! Keep it loose-ish to allow for more volume of the feathers. That way, they’re not squished.
This is what it looks like when you're done rolling.
Using approximately 4 inches of finishing tape, place the wood dowel at one end. Make sure this tape covers the feather ends that are poking out. Slowly roll while pinching the lower part onto the dowel.
Ta-Da! Now you have completed your very own Mini Feather Un-duster! Ask a grown-up what you can do to help with the Spring Clean-Up!
This program will take place in Pocatello at Station Square, 200 S Main St, on Saturday, March 19th at Noon. We will have all the supplies you will need, and Miss Barb will be there to help you make the craft!
We will be posting a recorded version of Spring Clean-Up later on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook as soon as we are able. Craft Corner will be part of that video! We highly encourage you to join us at Station Square if you feel comfortable! Thank you for your ongoing support!
